Effective on public launch · Version 1.0
These Terms of Service (Terms) are a legally binding agreement between you and The Handy Man To Know (ABN 70 545 298 533) (AussieDate, we, us, our), which operates the AussieDate matchmaking service at aussiedate.site and related applications (the Service). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
To use the Service you must:
The Service is intended for people located in Australia. By using it you confirm you meet these requirements.
You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your login details secure. You must give accurate, current and complete information and keep it up to date. You must not impersonate anyone, create an account for someone else without authority, or maintain more than one account without our permission. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
AussieDate is a curated introductions and matchmaking service. We use the information you provide to suggest people we believe may be compatible, and we facilitate introductions where both people opt in.
No guarantee of a relationship or outcome. We do not promise that you will meet anyone, form a relationship, or achieve any particular result. Compatibility scores and suggestions are indicative only and are not a guarantee of suitability, safety, character, or that another person is who they claim to be. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members.
We do not conduct criminal background checks or identity verification beyond the checks described on the Service, and we do not vet or endorse any member. You must exercise your own judgement and follow our safety guidance.
When using the Service you must not:
Our Community Guidelines form part of these Terms.
You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as your profile text and photos). You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content for the purpose of operating and providing the Service to you and, where you opt in, to other members. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights to share it. We may remove content that breaches these Terms.
Founding membership is currently free. Paid plans, where offered, are described on our Membership page, with prices shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and inclusive of GST where applicable. Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider (Stripe); we do not store your full card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically for the stated period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals. If you cancel a subscription within 7 days of a charge, we will refund the unused portion of that period on a pro-rata basis. After 7 days, subscription fees for the current period are non-refundable. One-off purchases are non-refundable. These limits do not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. See our Refunds & Cancellations policy.
You can report a member or block contact at any time using the tools in the Service. We take reports seriously and may investigate, remove content, or suspend or permanently remove any member who breaches these Terms or our Community Guidelines, or where we reasonably consider it necessary to protect members or comply with the law. Please read our Safety page. If you are in immediate danger, call 000.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that you have under the ACL or other law where it cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited under the ACL, our liability is limited (at our option) to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supply.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to section 8:
You agree to take reasonable care for your own safety when interacting with other members.
We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Because a matchmaking service necessarily involves sensitive information (for example, information about your relationships and, where you provide it, your sexual orientation), we collect and use that information with your consent as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by email or a notice in the Service) before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of each State and Territory of Australia and of the Commonwealth, and the laws applying in the State or Territory in which you reside apply to the extent relevant. If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You may also have rights to complain to a relevant regulator or ombudsman.
